It all started with my interest in wanting to support the local and extremely talented Finnish designer & artist Emmi Kainulainen (@emmikainulainen) at the Northern Vogue Fashion Show at the W Minneapolis hotel in the fall of 2018. I was drawn to Emmi's instagram by my cousin who encouraged me to follow her as we had similar aspiration. Emmi has created an amazing brand for herself and branched out to several other avenues in the fashion and creative world nationally and globally.
I bought my ticket for the North Vogue Fashion Show and the night of the event came.
There were a handful of incredible local designers at the show and I was super excited to see the ever-growing fashion community in Minneapolis. At the end of the night I was able to meet the founder of #NorthernVogue, Lindsey Higgins who also founded by Niche (@byNiche) a national marketing agency who works with luxury brands. I was so inspired by Lindsey and the event she put on, so I emailed her shortly after the show --seeing how I could somehow be a part of what she was doing.
Fast forward a long email thread and a couple phone calls later, I was asked to join the team and given my first client project, @Gupshup a Modern Indian Restaurant and Cocktail Bar in Manhattan. Having spent half of 2017 in South India, I was eager to jump on board with this client and my role began with managing the Insta-stories for the brand which included daily content creation and influencer marketing. Day-to-day I work out of whatever my office happened to be either my bed, kitchen table or the closest coffee-shop and collaborate with my local MN team and project managers in NY. I love what I do and am encouraged daily to enhance and grow my own marketing skills. As a team member I am constantly receiving feedback of all sorts that allows me to expand each client's potential. My favorite part of my work at by Niche is seeing the impact our work has on the client. When an excited customer gives us feedback, it's so fun sharing that with the client--many of which are the founders. I also love being able to work directly with Lindsey and the project managers. The team at by Niche is full of all sorts of talent and a diverse background.
Since March I have been added onto another client which was certainly a learning curve. I was intimated at first to take on this project, but Lindsey saw potential in me and had me stay with it. The past couple months I have learned the importance of being a marketer who can speak from the voice of many different brands and not just one's I personally could identify with. I am so thankful for the many mentors and supervisors that have believed in me.
